Wire ropes for cranes
Main categories of wire ropes for cranes
Depending on their design and application, crane wire ropes are divided into specific categories:
Rotation-Resistant Wire Ropes
These wire ropes feature multiple layers of strands laid in opposite directions. They prevent load rotation during lifting operations and are essential for cranes with high lifting heights, such as tower cranes and telescopic cranes.
Diepa, Python, Vornbäumen, and Bridon crane wire ropes.
Compacted Strand Wire Ropes
The strands undergo a special compaction process to increase the contact surface area. This results in higher breaking strength, smoother spooling on the drum, and improved resistance to wear.
Plastic-Impregnated Wire Ropes (Plastic Coated / PI)
These wire ropes incorporate an internal plastic layer between the core and the outer strands. This design reduces internal friction, protects against corrosion, and increases fatigue resistance, leading to longer service life.
Diepa and other plastic-impregnated crane wire ropes.
Running Wire Ropes (e.g., 6x19, 6x36 Class)
Standard six-strand wire ropes commonly used in overhead cranes, gantry cranes, and fixed lifting systems. The 6x19 construction offers excellent abrasion resistance, while the 6x36 construction provides greater flexibility for operation over sheaves and pulleys.
